  • The annual European film festival in Auckland "Windows on Europe" presented Polish films: "Little Moscow" in 2010 and "City of the Sea" in 2011.

     

    Throughout New Zealand in 2011, as part of the World Cinema Showcase Festival, the American movie based loosely on the book of the Polish author, Slawomir Rawicz, "The Way Back" was shown.


    Meanwhile, the 2011 New Zealand International Film Festival presented "The Mill and the Cross", directed by Jerzy Majewski.


    In March 2012, the New Zealand International Arts Festival presented the animated film “Peter and the Wolf”, produced by SEMAFOR (Lodz), winner of an Oscar.

     

    Also in 2012, as part of the celebration of the Year of Janusz Korczak, the Polish Embassy organised a screening of "Korczak" movie by Andrzej Wajda.

     

    In 2013 we commemorated Irena Sendler by screening a movie tribute to her humble life "The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler".

     

    In 2015 another Polish co-productions were screened in New Zealand with the suport of the Polish Embassy, such as Oscar-winning "Ida" by Paweł Pawlikowski and "In Darkness" directed by Agnieszka Holland. Another milestone in bilateral relations was achieved in 2015 by signing the Poland - New Zealand film co-production agreement.

     

    In 2016 we saw the first edition of the Wellington Polish Film Festival. A 10-days-long celebration of Polish cinematography turned out to be a great success therefore we are looking forward to the next edition!
